Big Lake is in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District. Big Lake Elementary School (K thru 6) is located in the Big Lake core area; Goose Bay Elementary School (K thru 6) is to the east of Big Lake; Houston Junior/Senior High School (7 thru 12) is to the north. School attendance boundaries are established by the School District. A home school correspondence study program is also available as an alternative to attending the public schools.
